To build a midsize grip from a standard grip, it takes extra layers of grip tape:
- 1 layer of tape is always required to install any grip.
- To size a standard grip up to midsize, you’ll need about 4 additional layers of tape under the grip.
That means a total of 5 layers (1 base layer + 4 build-up layers) are applied beneath the grip to achieve the midsize thickness.
